Hazel Mountain Chocolate, our boutique bean to bar chocolate factory and shop in the Burren Mountains is one of the smallest and most remote chocolate factories in the world. We make our chocolate in very small batches using rare Trinitario cacao beans and raw cane sugar for our dark chocolate and Irish milk from grass-fed cows in our milk chocolate delivering you the finest, purest and multi-award* winning chocolate.Our team of chocolate makers begin by hand roasting, cracking and winnowing cacao beans before stone grinding it for 40 hours. We then age our chocolate for further 3 weeks before our chocolatiers create our award winning range of bean to bar chocolates. You can’t just rush the process of making the world’s best chocolate.- Kasha Connolly – Head Chocolatier

Discover how bean to bar chocolate is really made with a guided tour from one of our head chocolate makers. Your 45 minute tour will take you through all the stages of our chocolate making, followed by a tasting session. Tours available Saturday & Sunday at 1pm.

Cost €12 per person, €5 children (unsuitable for children under 12yrs)

Marvel at the frozen waterfall and explore the now extinct brown bears bones (ursos arctos).

The guides will bring you back to the outside world where you can browse and shop in distinctly different gift shop which are housed in the award winning complex that guards the entrance to the Burren underground.

Dunguaire Castle

The village of Kinvara dates back to the early 13th Century with many historical sights to be discovered. Dunguaire Castle is located on a rocky outcrop within view and a short walk of the picturesque harbour. It is said to be the most photographed castle in Ireland.

The architecture of this 16th century tower house is simple yet magnificent. A short stroll from the village for you to enjoy.
